Nature Photography Meetup

Saturday 09 March
S Main Street - 11am - 2 Hours

Join this session for tips on how to use your camera settings to creatively capture nature in a visually interesting way. We will be looking at composition, focus, and colour.

Many professional offices and places of business have large prints gracing their wall space of things such as fields of flowers, a butterfly perched on a leaf, and a single dew drop on a rose petal. These beautiful images are all around us in nature. It just takes that special "eye" to not only see it but to capture it in a way that will turn that simple little piece of nature into a beautiful piece of art. We will learn how to use different angles, light and shadows, and settings to make subjects pop.

Beginner's Nature Photography Class: We will be focusing on camera setting for best lighting, color, shadow, and depth of field.

Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Ocala.

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Ocala Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

Luke was very nice and helped us learn more of what we were interested in.
It was great. Small class a plus because you got the individual attention you needed. Mike was very knowledgeable.
This was an easy walking photo field trip with a knowledgeable leader. Kaley knew where to look for birds that live in the park, and she knew the sections that attract the birds. I didn't feel I was being managed but rather that I had found a kindred spirit in photography.

Kaley was very knowledgeable and easy to understand. When I arrived I new very little about my cannon T7 once the class was completed I was able to get clear detailed pictures I highly recommend her class see you at the next one

I am a concept and portrait photographer hailing from the North East (Boston area). I specialize in the unique and technically challenging photoshoots as well as concept portraiture that most do not wish to pursue. I welcome any and every challenge that finds itself in the sight of my lens, and am very passionate about making sure the final result is indisputable from what you had envisioned. I love taking photos and videos that tell a story, from the ground the subject is standing, to the gradients that coat the background they inhabit.

As I'm sure you can tell from my overly wordy approach, I love story telling. I believe any and everything has a story to be told, and there is always inner beauty that is waiting to be shown to the ever changing world.

Luke Folkes is available for private bookings

Available most weekends at anytime, all I ask is notice in advance.

I have been shooting and developing 35mm film for almost a year. I was feeling pretty confident with 35mm and wanted a new challenge. I Recently I picked up Kodak Duaflex IV medium format camera from 1955 that takes 620 film that is no longer made. I decided to combine try 35mm in the camera and 3d printed some adapters to allow me to use 35mm. This shot was from the second roll through the camera. Pictures were taken at Naples Pier during sunset.

This photo is from early in my photography journey. I attended one of my first Seattle-based photography meet-ups and after the meet and greets, we split into small groups to find some compositions. I had been playing around with long exposures and light trails and the bright lights from the Great Wheel caught my eye. I spent a good amount of time that evening making new relationships and capturing this image.

Was just about done and headed home after a very cold and unproductive day. This hawk flew by and I was able shoot a few worthwhile shots.
